St. John Cathedral and Cemetary

The cathedral is a Dutch Gothic Structure built in 1916. It is the seat of the Diocese of Lafayette. On its grounds is a 500 year old oak tree; girth, 28 feet, limb span, 145 feet. In the cemetary are buried the two Civil War Generals, Mouton and Gardner as well as my dad, François Pradier. The Graves could not be placed in the ground because the land is at sea level. therefore, crypts were built to house the graves.
